Ayers, a city resident for five years, is director of the Children's Community, a school for children from four to eight years of age. Archives of the Chelsea Board of Education may hold some official designation for this rural school, but the memories and hearts of northwest Washtenaw county know it by one name only - Pumpkin College. Applying fresh paint is Charles Cameron of Chelsea.
